Toy Room Tease

Last night we took Bubs to get another haircut. He needed a serious bath before we went. No, Bubs does NOT have a black eye....he just got a little crazy with the chocolate pudding. It is amazing how much older Bubs looks with his short hair.
So handsome.
I'm so excited to get this toy room done!! I had to throw some pictures on the blog to show you the progress thus far. Hubs has been busy painting. Since there are no windows in the room, Hubs didn't think it was a good idea for the prego lady to paint in such a poorly ventilated area.
Fine by me!
We've got an orange wall & a couple of blue walls.....we've got some stripes & chalkboard/magnetic paint yet to come.
Hopefully by the end of the week I'll have some more pictures to post. Grandpa B. is in Alaska right now livin' it up with Grandma B. Once he gets back we're going to put him to work with laying the floor. Still LOTS to do, but it is fun to actually see some progress.

Dresser Redo

I wish I would have taken better "before" pictures so you could appreciate the finished product more, but this is all I got. These dressers belonged to Hub's great-grandma. My MIL was nice enough to give them to us, and nice enough to let me do whatever I wanted with them. They are in great shape---just needed a little paint job.I sanded them down and painted them black. I found some very reasonable hardware at Target. The big dresser and night stand are going to go into Bubs' big boy room. Once the toy room is complete I can focus on Bubs' room. The walls in the toy room are primed and ready for some color...stay tuned!

There was another piece in the set. I have been searching for a buffet, but didn't want to spend lots of money. My MIL wasn't using this dresser either, so she let me have it also. 3 pieces for FREE!!! YIPPEE!! It fits nicely in that space and it gives me more storage for my dish towels & such. I haven't decided what is going to go on top of the "buffet", but I had to throw something up there for the picture.
I had my eye on some pretty knobs from Anthropologie that were $6.00 a piece. I needed 12 knobs & after shipping and handling, well, it was more than I wanted to spend. I visited the local Hobby Lobby and found these beauties for $2.99 each. The sales lady explained that I had just missed the 50% off knob sale. DARNIT! But, she did say they would go on sale again in the next week or two and I could bring my receipt back in for a price adjustment. ROCK ON LADY!

I know it needs a little more color, but I figure I'll be pulling out my fall decor very soon & that will liven up the "buffet". Until then, I've got bigger issues to focus on....off to shop for a big boy bed!

Lazy Days of Summer

This weekend was full of painting projects (will have pictures soon)....smores making......corn on the cob eating.....swimming in the pool.....& just chillin'.Rach & Keith brought her sister's kids over Saturday night for some marshmallow roasting. It was a perfect night. Hard to believe it was the first day of August.
Aunt Rachel wanted a picture of all of her nieces & nephews. They finally sat still for a good picture.
Bubs wasn't into the whole smores thing, but he LOVED the marshmallows. I think he ate 20 of them. No joke.Sunday was a warm one, so it was a good day for the pool....

& just hanging out.
Bubs lovin' him some corn on the cob
& a good cuddle with Daddy.
The busy weekend wiped him out........

Random Stuff

So this summer is flying by. I've been terrible about the blog thing. Here are just a few random pictures I've snapped lately. In the next few weeks I can't wait to show you pictures of Bub's toy room, his big boy room & the updated nursery. Grandpa B. & Hubs have been working hard to get the toy room done so I can get decorating. I've got my work cut out for me. It is amazing how dirty this kid gets! Good thing he LOVES the bathtub! His favorite activities right now (besides taking a bath) are going to the park, swimming in the pool, playing with his tractors & helping water the flowers. In Bub's opinion, a good solid meal consists of cookies & waffles--& Mickey Mouse & my parent's dog Riley are the coolest things on the planet. He has his ornery moments, but the kid is pretty darn good.

Last weekend we celebrated our friend Peyton's birthday. Bubs had a blast with his little friends. I love seeing all the kids play together. We don't get to see Hayley & Cory's kids very often, so it was fun to see Bubs & Jenna hang. Future girlfriend Bubs? Momma approves!

Tate & Bubs chilled in the alligator pool.

They are going to be best buds. They both share a strong love for tractors & the Cubs.

Besides keeping Bubs entertained this summer, Hubs & I have been golfing quite a bit. The cool weather has been perfect for this pregnant lady.

Well, that's all I got. I'll try do better about bloggin'. I've got lots of fun ideas for the kids' rooms. Can't wait to get started on everything!
Until then....let me leave you with this disturbing picture. I ask you--where did my kid learn this?

***don't worry, the little bottle of Black Velvet was sealed--Bubs can't open bottles (yet) & we do not condone underage drinking. I especially frown upon 23 month olds boozing, but I had to sneak a picture of Bubs pretending before I put a kibosh on the whole taking shots thing. No wonder Grandma & Grandpa always say he's so well behaved & no wonder Bubs is always asking for "juice" at their house. Hmmmm....***

"No boy parts"

We're Having A Girl!
I think.
The ultrasound lady said
"no boy parts".
I'm assuming that means
there's a girl in there!
I can already tell
she's a pretty little thing.
Heck of a profile.
About 20 more weeks

until we get to meet her!
P.S. 3D pictures of babies at 20 weeks are frightening.
See for yourself.
Yikes!

Venting

Ah, look at you
with your perfect round prego belly
Well, screw you lady!

In fact, YOU ALL CAN F#%& OFF!

Man, I hate swimming suits. Especially maternity swimming suits.
OK, I'm over it.
I'll wear my ugly maternity swimsuit
& I'll take my kid to the pool
with a freakin' smile on my face.
Fat rolls & all.
Geez, the things you do for your kids.

Weekend in Review...in Reverse Order

SUNDAY
We had a busy weekend! Here's what we did....in reverse order because this is how I uploaded my pictures to Blogger, and I'm too lazy to move them around!Today was gorgeous. We spent some time at the park. Yesterday the weather didn't cooperate. It was cold & rainy, so we didn't make it to the park for the 4th of July festivities.

Bubs couldn't get enough of the swings & the big slide.

We had to bribe him with ice cream to get him to leave without making a scene.
Today before we went to the park, Bubs grabbed his potty & wanted to sit on it. (it has been awhile since he wanted anything to do with the little throne) I was so excited that I ripped off the diaper and sat him on the potty so quickly, I didn't realize the kid had already filled his pants.

Oh well, maybe next time. Yes Bubs, you can still sit on the potty for a little while & read your book.

But when Bubs said he was done & I pulled him off the potty, this is what I found. No folks, that is not a raisin. I'm pretty sure it was just stuck to his rear when he sat down on the potty, but we praised him like he had actually gone #2 in the potty. Oh happy day!
SATURDAY
Last night we watched fireworks at our friends Danny & Sonya's house. I wasn't sure if Bubs would be able to stay awake for the display, but he did make it through 1/2 of the show. He loved the bright lights, & the loud booms didn't seem to bother him.

Prior to the fireworks, Tate's dad gave Bubs a glow stick. Bubs was too little to enjoy the sparklers, but he twirled that glow stick around just like the big kids were doing with their sparklers. Bubs didn't seem to mind not getting to play with the real deal. All of his little pals were over at Danny & Sonya's house. It was great seeing all the kids playing together.

Earlier in the day we all got up from our naps and headed out in the light rain to enjoy the parade.
I'm glad I woke Bubs up for the parade. He LOVED the tractors. He was buckled into his stroller, otherwise I think he would have ran into the street to touch the tractors.
He wouldn't wave at any other people or floats, but the kid waved at EVERY stinkin' tractor.

FRIDAY
Friday night we celebrated Hubs' 30th birthday. His birthday is actually on July 7th, but we figured most people would be home for the 4th so what better time to throw a party?
We had a good turnout, and I think Hubs had a great time. Poor guy had to get up at 5:30 Saturday morning to work at the pancake breakfast. Around 1:30AM, I reminded him of this and he decided that YEP, it was time to go to bed! Let's just say Saturday was really rough for Hubs--but he was a trooper and got out of bed to do his pancake duties, spent time with his family at the parade & hung out with friends to eat & watch fireworks without complaining (much).
I'm actually fairly amazed I was able to last until 1:30. Thank goodness for caffeine--oh relax, I DID resist the urge to have a glass of keg beer....I can at least have one lousy Mt. Dew (or maybe 3).
Chris, Keith & Krista were the first to arrive and sample the keg.
Nice shirt babe! (i had NOTHING to do with it, he picked it out himself)
Happy Birthday, ya big goofball!

Hope everyone had a safe & happy 4th!
