The Pink Doehr & Much More!

How stinkin cute is this couple!! GORGEOUS aren't they!! These are my friends Amy & Ryan...they own The Pink Doehr.

If you live in the state of Iowa, or even in a neighboring state, you should DEFINITELY come and visit my friend Amy's adorable store. It will be worth your time, I promise. (Amy's last name is Doehrmann--hence the Doehr in The Pink Doehr....cute, eh?)

Amy's store sells local wine, home decor, candles, flowers, gifts, & lots of other great things. Amy's store has fun stuff that you can't find everywhere--that is what makes it so unique!

We all had a blast helping out with the open house. Amy definitely has my dream job!
Here are just a few random pictures from her store. Lots of pretties!

How cute would those numbers look in your house?

SERIOUSLY---if you are in the Williamsburg area, stop in!

Kitchen is coming along.....

Griffin is helping Grandpa B. work on the kitchen. Grandpa's sons have disappointed him with their lack of interest in the work he does, but Griffin is going to be the prized Grandson & follow in Dan-the-Man's footsteps. The jack-of-all-trades is going to pass down his vast knowledge of tiling, building, painting, & everything involved in bettering your home to my son.

I am so impressed with how well Grandma & Grandpa B. work together. They don't argue (well, not very much.) They really make a good team. If Jason & I were doing a project together, it would end badly. Very badly.

Yes, that is some good tator-tot casserole on the counter. Mmmm, damn I can cook.

Griffin did do a fine job picking out the tile for the back splash. G-man has to be around Grandpa at all times--just taking in everything Grandpa does. Griff might be capable of tiling a bathroom floor before he is even able to go potty in a toilet!! It is amazing what a sponge this kid is!

Check out the picture below. This is the extent of what Jason's role was in the project. My honey took off the outlet covers. Nice work babe! Ladies, he is for hire....and for a few extra dollars, he might take off his shirt. H.O.T.

a little tile tease.......

look at the pretty colors on the bar......i'm so excited!!!!

Holy moly......how great is that!!!!

We have some cleaning up to do.... some grouting to finish up..outlet covers to put back on....(i don't know why i'm saying "we", because we all know grandpa b. is going to be doing all the work)

i know you all aren't as excited about this tile project as i am, but WOW!! it is pretty super-fantastic. thanks dan & ruth! stellar work!

time to enjoy a cold beverage & play some Pepper with keith & rach (i know, it is 11:30 at night...really should be going to bed...nah, i'd rather play cards.....might be a long day tomorrow.....TGIF!!!)

Pillow Makeovers.....SWEET!!

Oh, hey there skinny. Haven't seen you in awhile. I guess after you have a baby, certain clothes seem to fit less than perfect. Yeah, yeah....so it has been about 16mo. since I had Griff, but the body still isn't completely back to normal. I highly doubt it EVER returns to normal. This sweater is actually VERY boring, so I didn't feel bad when I started to cut it up.

I have a few old pillows that I've had down in my basement for awhile. I decided they needed a makeover. I got this idea over at http://fromhousetocozyhome.blogspot.com/
I totally copied the flower idea. It is so stinkin cute!!
(i haven't quite figured out how to do the linky thing...have patience with a new blogger please!)

I also found a stained pink shirt in my closet that was perfect for the pretty flowers. I stole some buttons off one of my husband's dress shirts....they were the spare buttons, so don't worry, he won't be going to work with his shirt gaping open--showing off chest hair....YIKES! (he really doesn't have chest hair)

I sewed the pillow by hand....because I don't have a sewing machine.

I flipped the pillow right side out, stuffed the pillow in, and sewed up the last side. I added the pretty flowers to give it a little PIZAZZ.

Here's a picture of tonight's pillow & the pillow I made last night with another old sweater. This sweater didn't turn out as good because it was smaller and you can see where the arm holes were---oh well, just fine for a spare bed.

Dandy, eh?

Well, off to bed.

"nigh, nigh" as Griffin says

sFEET dreams!

Bachelor Recap

Thank goodness Jason read my blog last week. My rant saved him from making a HUGE mistake with Shannon. (i do know that the bachelor was filmed long ago and he has already made his choice....duh, just play along!) I was having some remorse for my harsh words against Shannon, until I watched tonight's episode. Yep, she's still psycho.
I do believe he has a good bunch left to chose from....but Molly is my projected winner. She really impressed me this week....not the part where she was shacking up with the bachelor and doing the walk of shame after her one-on-one date--but before that when they were sitting by the tent talking. She is cute, real (i watch a lot of reality TV and can tell who is genuine) & she doesn't make me feel uncomfortable when I watch her. Until next week........

Did anyone else hear about this: The Senate voted Monday to delay until June 12 the deadline for the changeover from analog to digital television broadcasting. Apparently they don't believe that the American people are ready to make the transition because many still do not have the digital TV converter boxes. Great, so the transition might be postponed by 4 months. 4 more wonderful months of watching the dumb commercials for this. So what if people aren't ready for it---of course I don't know what I would do without my television....but I don't think it would hurt any of us to READ a little more. Speaking of reading.....need to go work on finishing my book club book. 1st official meeting starts in just under 2 weeks.

No. 2

Warning: If you have an issue with hearing/reading about POO, please stop now.

It was bound to happen. It has happened to numerous families across the world.....in fact Megan was just talking about this delicate subject Friday night (her story is WAY worse than mine.) Yes, Griffin did it. He went No. 2 in the bathtub this morning.
I was standing by the tub putting Griff''s shirts on hangers when it got very quiet. Usually Griff is singing or splashing in the tub, and even though I was standing next to the tub the entire time I was working on Griff's laundry, I panicked a little when there was a moment of silence. And then I looked over and knew why he had been so quiet, I saw the floaties. Unfortunately that wasn't the worst part. Griffin was playing with one. G.R.O.S.S.
Griff has always been a "regular" kind of kid. Sort of like clockwork. Usually he likes to hide when he is doing his business---so I was a little surprised that he did it right in front of me.
Yes, that is a weight watcher's yogurt he is eating---packed with fiber---see why he is regular! (no I don't have my kid on the weight watcher's diet--it was the only yogurt we had in the house, geez!)

At least the poo was solid. As I'm debating on how to take care of the mess, Jason yells from the other room--"it isn't a big deal, just clean it up with toilet paper." Husband, unless you are going to come help, zip it! I've cleaned up WAY bigger messes before---remember, I am a nurse. I think I can handle a little poo!

Enough about fecal matter, Griff was lucky enough to get to play with Aunt Rachel & Uncle Keith today while Mommy & Daddy went on an actual date. Thanks you guys for watching Griff!

We saw Seven Pounds. I liked it. Jason liked it. It was a tear-jerker. I cried. Jason laughed at me for crying.
I really like Will Smith. I think he is good in comedy (Fresh Prince of Bel Air.....loved that show, Men in Black), & horror & fiction (I Am Legend, I, ROBOT, Hancock), & Romance & Drama (Seven Pounds, The Pursuit of Happyness)---he's a good actor, and he's HOT! I do recommend the movie.

I'm sad it is Sunday evening......have to go to work tomorrow.....but am happy that I am gainfully employed and should say "I GET to go to work tomorrow." Sunday nights are actually okay--get to relax with the family--oh yeah, Cold Case & Big Love are on tonight! YIPPEE!

Have a good night everyone!

Piano Recital

Carson: "Howdy partner! Come on over here and I'll play you a tune....

......even better, would you like to help me play a little something......do you perhaps know Brahms Intermezzo Op. 76 No. 4?"
Griffin: "Why yes, I am familiar with that number--it is one of my favorites."
Carson: "Excellent dear friend."

Griffin: "After this, can we go play some basketball?"
Carson: "Actually, I prefer football and baseball, but since you are a guest, sure thing."
Griffin: "AAhhh, I knew we were destined to be buds!"

Not sure if Megan, Ben, or Jason heard this conversation, but it was intriguing. We have some talented kids. Thanks for the good eats last night Megs! That woman can cook!

My night started off like any other night.....

I got home, kissed the kid & kissed the husband. Husband says, go look at our bed. I say OK----as I walk into my bedroom I do a double take. Well HELLO gorgeous! I don't think I've ever seen anything more beautiful....okay, maybe my baby is more beautiful than Edward Cullen, but that is about it!! My girly friend Lea left me a wonderful surprise. She feels the same way I do about Edward---it is a good thing he is a fictional vampire and we are both happily married women---cuz I think our friendship would be in jeopardy if we honestly had a chance with him. The funny thing is, Lea told Jason to put it in on my pillow---and he actually did!! He understands my infatuation with Edward. Thank you Lea & thanks for understanding Honey!

**Edward Cullen is the hot vampire in Twilight for all of you NOT obsessed with the book/movie**

Doctor? Doctor? Is there a doctor in the house? Griffin was rummaging through my stuff tonight and came across my stethoscope.

I held the stethoscope up to his heart, he then had to listen to Mommy's heart

& then the kid started to sing into it--"gonna get a free ride to medical school, cure cancer, pay off all my parent's debt & send them on an African safari" I swear that is what he was singing!

I really had good intentions of lounging tonight and either watching a movie (because I've given up on Grey's Anatomy) or reading. I walked past the stairway after I put Griffin to sleep, and saw this sad star hanging on my wall. It was screaming "MAKE ME PRETTY!" So, I googled (heart google) "decoupage barn stars" and I came across this website http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/cg_display.asp?cmd=display&seed_id=22545

Within a few hours my star went from BLAH

to Voila!!!

And now I'm off to bed---I'm exhausted!!

I might have a problem.........

umm, my husband thinks I have a problem. no, it isn't a problem with Ben & Jerry's---he thinks i have a blogging problem. i guess maybe i do---the first step is admitting your problem, right? well this girl is not ready to give up her addiction. and this addiction doesn't stop at posting the minute/random events that occur in our life, i'm obsessed with reading other blogs. i love to see what my friends are up to---and i love to look at what is going on in complete strangers lives. it is like reality tv 24/7. i don't care---i enjoy it---and this is a cheap form of entertainment! my blog is random---it has no direction, but i'm doing this for my kids---i want them to see what i was/am interested in. if you like to read my blog great---if you don't--fine. i really don't care dear husband if you think i have a problem---i'm gonna keep on a bloggin!
i wanted to show some "before" pics of what my kitchen looks like now---in a couple of weeks it will look a little different. we have a little tile/paint project planned. can't wait! this picture also showcases my weak attempt to vday decorate. it isn't high on my holiday list. i love what other people do, but the day comes and goes too quickly to haul out a bunch of pretties.

Stay tuned!

Making History

Our 44th President of The United States of America: Barack Obama
I completely missed Barack Obama's historic inauguration. I was busy seeing patients in clinic. Thank goodness I can watch his speech online---love the internet! Times are a changing! Looking forward to see what the future brings with President Obama.

That Michelle is one classy lady! Very stylish!

Bubs, The Bachelor & Big Love

I truly hope my kid never has to wear glasses---but at least I know he'll look darn cute if he ever does. Grandma B. thought it would be funny to put her readers on Griff. He looks so old sitting at the table with Grandpa's hat & Grandma's glasses on.
Because of the holiday daycare was closed, so Grandma & Grandpa B. spent the day at G's crib.
I wanted to show you the masterpiece Griffin created tonight
Not too shabby for his first work of art...I'm not saying it is museum worthy, but I'd venture to say that a certain Granny or Gramps would pay a pretty penny for this one of a kind piece.

Actually he was much more interested in sucking on the markers than drawing with them. I love these washable markers!

Okay, since it is Monday night, I have to discuss The Bachelor--and get this off my chest. So I'm super jacked that Erica was booted! I think she is incredibly immature and definitely not ready to be a step-mother, but......

....to say that I was a little disappointed that Jason held on to this drama queen is an understatement. I can hardly stand to watch her on the show!!! REE REE REE---(my lame attempt to make the Psycho music). She is so BIZARRE! I think Jason must have felt extremely sorry for Shannon for puking in the middle of a rose ceremony--that is the ONLY reason I can think he kept her. Come on---pull yourself together weirdo! Hopefully she won't make the next cut. It is downright uncomfortable watching her. She looks cute in this picture, but trust me, she's a FREAK!

Onto a better topic---one of my HBO faves came back on. I HEART BIG LOVE, in a BIG way! I think I'm fascinated with polygamy. I can't imagine why any man would want more than one wife---of course besides the 1 very OBVIOUS reason! But you would think after awhile even THAT would get old! I sometimes wonder how my husband puts up with one wife! Sunday nights on HBO---I highly recommend it!
